Paramount pictures corporation is an American film company located in Hollywood, paramount pictures was founded in 1912 and currently owned by media conglomerate Viacom, it is Americans oldest existing film studio it is also the last major film studio still headquartered in the Hollywood district of los Angeles.
Paramount pictures can trace it beginning to the creation in May 1912 of the famous player’s film company, found by Hungarian born Adolph Zukor
In 1927, Famous Players-Lasky took on the name Paramount-Famous Lasky Corporation. Three years later it was later known as Paramount-Publix Corporation.Paramount Pictures Inc. was split in two. Paramount Pictures Corporation was formed to be the production distribution company.
In 1970, Paramount teamed with Universal Studios to form Cinema International Corporation. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) would become a partner in the mid 1970s. Both Paramount and CIC entered the video market with Paramount Home Video (now Paramount Home Entertainment) and CIC Video, respectively.On December 11, 2005, The Paramount Motion Pictures Group announced that it had purchased DreamWorks SKG in a deal worth $1.6 billion.
